I know it can be nerve-wracking to try out a new stylist or salon, and I thank you for taking an interest in me and my small business

A consultation is the best first step when making an investment in your hair, and this page was designed to help you be a little more at ease with the process.

Keep scrolling for information that will help you prepare for our first meetup!

My little salon is located inside of Studio Eleven-17, inside of the Nacogdoches Executive Center office building. The building is right between Walmart and Pep Boys facing Nacogdoches Road and across the street from the Take 5 Oil Change.

There is plenty of parking on three sides of the building, but if the street side is full, parking in the back is not too much farther of a walk. There is accessible parking both in front and back of the building nearest the hallway entrances.

Just FYI. our building was made fully smoke-free in 2024 (including the outside areas), so please plan ahead for this if you are a smoker!

When you are ready, head over to suite #104, the first glass double doors on the left front side of the downstairs hallway. Above the mailbox is a video intercom- all you need to do is tap on "Directory", then on my name, "Sonia-Azalea Color Bar", and it will alert me. The door will audibly unlatch and the intercom will chime when the door is unlocked (pull firmly), and you can come in and take a seat in the front lobby. If you arrive early, our coffee lounge is across the hall from the lobby, and you are welcome to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee or tea! I may be finishing up with the guest before you, so out of respect for any guest I am with (including you when it's your appointment time), I will not be able to answer the door in person or respond to any texts until finished.

Massage therapists also operate within the studio, so it's important to keep noise to a minimum so that their guests can enjoy their sessions as well. As soon as my guest before you has departed, the salon is thoroughly cleaned and everything is ready for you, I will come out to greet you!

Due to limited occupancy, and to ensure that each guest is able to relax and enjoy their experiences, please arrive alone to your appointment. Guests under the age of 18 may be accompanied with a parent or legal guardian, and guests who require assistance may be accompanied by a caregiver, of course.

I know it's a lot of information, but don't worry-I'll send you a text the morning of your appointment day to reiterate the most important bits of information.

As you already know, once you book an in-person consultation, I'll send an automated text message with a link to this page. Approximately 24 hours before your consultation, you'll receive another automated text reminder for the appointment.

Once I have welcomed you in, we'll head to the salon and get comfortable. Then, the Q & A begins- I'll ask questions, you'll ask questions, and we'll both answer!

Don't worry, it's not an interrogation, but we'll definitely cover a lot of bases.

Here are some examples of what I'll ask:

  • Do you have a specific or general look you'd like to achieve?

  • Do you have any inspiration pictures you'd like to show me?

  • What do you like most/least about your hair or your look right now?

  • What is your daily routine like?

  • What products do you currently use?

  • Which services have you had done at home or in a salon in the past 6-12 months?

  • How long has it been since your last haircut/color?

  • How often do you want to visit the salon for maintenance?

  • What is your budget?

  • Do you drink caffeinated beverages or take supplements?

It's ok if you don't have any reference photos. I can Google or search Pinterest for tons of images based on what you describe!

I generally will avoid asking questions that are too sensitive or personal, but I'll explain some of the common challenges that arise from performing certain services under certain circumstances, such as:

  • Pregnancy

  • Recent surgery

  • Illness

  • Hormonal changes

  • Taking medication(s) for specific conditions

From there, you can make an informed decision whether or not to proceed with hair services (or choose a different service), with or without disclosing your private information.

Every time someone asks me, "Do you have any questions?", my mind goes blank... and of course later on, I think of a bunch!

If this happens to you too, here's a few important questions you should definitely ask, if they haven't been covered already!

(feel free to copy/paste or screenshot):

  • How long will the service appointment take?

  • How much will it cost?

  • How often do I need this style/color touched up?

  • How will this change my daily routine?

  • What kind of after care does this require?

  • Are there any alternative services if this will be too damaging or exceed my budget?

  • What are your policies regarding redos or adjustments?

If the options, recommended service, pricing, and timing appeal to you and you feel that we're a good fit, I'm happy to book a future appointment after the consultation, if you wish. If you prefer to think on it further, I'll send you a direct link before you leave and you can book later, at your convenience.

There's no pressure and no obligation!

Once you book your appointment, I will send you a link to a page similar to this one, with information on what to expect at your appointment and how to prepare for it.

Furthermore, if you have any other questions that come to mind after your consultation, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via text or email.

I'm always happy to help!

I look forward to meeting you!
